In your own words, explain the story of Stanley's great-great-grandfather, Elya Yelnats from Latvia, and Madame Zeroni.
In Chapter 9, Stanley began to write a letter to his mother so she wouldn't worry about him. Finish up the letter he started. Then, re-write a letter to his mother describing how he really felt about Camp Green Lake.
In the first part of Holes, we find that yellow-spotted lizards are extremely dangerous. Make a prediction as to how yellow-spotted lizards may play a role in this novel.
The yellow spotted lizard will go in Stanley's hole and jump out to bite him.

It's really hot hear i am digging for hours. If you dig a hole it will be hard because my new friends told me that that the second hole is harder and tougher. It is not fun at all. There used to be water. But now it's dry out here. I miss you a lot. I get a jug of water they some times give you water. But as i said they sometimes give you water

Today was a bad day. I needed to dig holes and I had splinters and I was bleeding. The sun was making me sweat a lot. I don't have friends they are mean to me. The boys are talking about a yellow spotted lizard and i'm afraid it will poison me. I wish I was at home.

I predict that the lizards (yellow) will be through out the story. The reason why is because at times when they are digging holes, the lizards can pop out and bite u, then your dead. Also because if you are in vast deserted deserts, there will be some type of wild life in the area. So be careful Stanley..................
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to stanleys great great grandfather was how he loved a women named lativa. Lativa wasn't very smart, she couldn't think for herself. One day a man asked her father for her hand in marriage in exchange of a fat pig. But Stanley's grandfather wanted to marry her too, so he asked madame zeronie for help. Madame zeronie really didn't Want for him to be with lativa but she gave him advice anyway. She gave him a baby pig and told him to cary the pig up a mountain and to let the pig drink from the stream while singing him a song and once he does that for two weeks the pig will get bigger and then she made him promise to come back on the last day and carry her up the mountain or him and his family will be cursed . When it was time to compare the two pigs they were the same weight. So they let lavita decide who she wanted top marry she didn't know who to choose so she told them to think of a # and she said if she was thinking of that # she would marry him. Stanleys great grandfather was upset so he just walked away and went to america. But he forgot to walk madame zeronie up the mountain.

Stanley grandfather married a woman named Sarah miller.He and her had a baby named Stanley .After Stanley finish digging, he got stuck in the hole he digged.When he finally got out he took a shower and went to the wreck room.Stanley almost got in a fight.Stanley got a nickname called caveman.Stanley found a fossil stone but Mr.pandanski said it wasn't interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow-spotted lizard may take role in this novel because of where they live, what they eat, and they're dangerous. The lizard live in holes which the boys dig every day. The boys use the bathroom in the holes and can get bitten which means immediate death. The lizards feed upon sunflower seed shells which Mr.Sir is eating. That could attract one.

Today was my first day at camp,and I have already meet the principal from here, he is MEAN! Well guess what they are making me.Do well they are making me dig holes! There are these reptiles called yellow spotted lizards, they are scary, the principal knowing that the animals are there, still he let us be in danger and one more thing this camp doesn't let you have personal space, Where do you think we have to do the bathroom? In the holes! Time to go Dig more holes.The hole has to be about like 4 FEET and if we find anything interesting in the hole we have to immadietly report it and well mom honestly the place where I am is a total dump!

ReplyDeleteI predict that the yellow-spotted lizards will have a role in this novel because maybe the Warden or whatever he is called wants to teach the boys how to act right by making them or thinking that they are the yellow-spotted lizards. I think that because on chapter eight Stanley talks about the yellow-spotted lizards. In one paragraph it says they dig HOLES.SOUNDS FAMILIAR? Duh the title. It is called HOLES because of the yellow..something something.It is just like HOOT.not only because the both stories start with H.BECAUSE OF THE ANIMALS.

this has the be the worst camp ever because there is no lake and each day you have to get up at 4:30 just to eat breakfast.Plus each day we have to dig a hole 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep.And we have to dig them in the hot blazing dessert.

I think the yellow spotted lizard is going to play a role in the book by someone is going to get bite by the lizard but someone who doesn't really care.So while the cops and secured call the ambulance and the hospital and taking care of the boy Stanley is going to run away with one of his new friends and the cops are not going to realize and he's going to get away.

There was a kid at the lake named barf bag, everyone has a nickname. Myself? I haven't developed one yet. But, I know I will soon.
There are the guards too, Mr. Pendanski, he pretty cool I guess. Mr.Sir, I don't know if that's his real name though. Oh, and The Warden, from what I hear people say about him he's not very much a nice guy.
I have to admit, it's not easy digging the holes. Especially if your in the sun for hours, gosh it's not picking daises. People finish before me, today I was pretty sure I was the last one done.
I found a fossil today, but, it wasn't great enough to take the day off though.

Dear mom,
I don't love Camp Green Lake, the sun, it's my enemy. Everyday, in the sun, it's not the best. I much rather have to not dig holes, can't we do something more, I don't know, reasonable, I mean come on. You dig holes! In the dirt! For hours straight, it builds character?! How?! The holes are so plain, how will the character ever be somewhat appealing?!

ReplyDeleteThe story of stalney grandfather is that after he got on the boat to America.when he got to America he learned English.He also fell in love with Sarah miller.Later they had a baby Sarah also sang the song to the baby.then bad stuff started to happen.

Elya Yelnats really liked this girl. So one day he went to her father to ask to marry her. But the girls dad wanted a big fat pig instead of Elya marrying his daughter. So Elya goes to Madame Zeroni to ask for help about the girl.
ReplyDeleteMadame Zeroni tried to tell Elya that she wasn't worth it but Elya wouldn't listen. Madame Zeroni was telling him that she was dumb she can't have an intelligent conversion or milk a goat. Elya didn't listen so madame Zeroni gave him a bargain. She gave him a piglet she told him to take the pig up the mountain everyday and sing to it. the pig would get bigger and it did. But there was a catch if he didn't take her up to the mountain and let her drink she would curse him and his family. when the pig finally got huge and he took the pig it was the same size as igors pig. then they let the girl decide and she didn't know who to choose so then elya didn't care anymore and left the country breaking his promise to Madame Zeroni
Stanley has a flashback about his great great grandfather and how he got married. At first, it said that he and another man want to marry a woman from afar. One of them offered a pig for the daughter's marriage. Then Stanley's grandfather need help from Madam Zeroni and she gave him a little pig that he had to carry up a mountain everyday for it to drink water.after the pig has grown, the grandfather and Madam Zeroni made a deal to take her up that mountain before she died. After leaving on a boat because he had given up on the woman, he was cursed by Madam Zeroni because he realized he hadn't taken her to the mountain but wanted to search for her lost son to fix it.
